About
The Abramtsevo Museum-Estate was one of the centers of Russian culture and art of the late XIX – early XX century. He belonged to one of the most important patrons of his time -Savva Mamontov, who created the famous Abramtsevo artistic circle. Members of this group were united by a common commitment to the further development of Russian national art, which was based on folklore and artistic traditions.
During a few decades, there was a hard and fruitful life: there were created paintings, buildings were constructed according to the original architectural projects, the Old Russian pottery was revived, new forms of household items were developed, innovative performances were staged. We will visit to the main house and some pavilions where such important artists as Vasnetsov, Serov, Repin, Polenov, Vrubel and many others worked there.
After that, we will have a visit to the Zhostovsky plant. Zhostovo painting is an Old Russian folk craft of painting on metal trays, which still exists in the village of Zhostovo near Moscow. It appeared at the beginning of the XIX century mainly under the influence of the Ural craft of flower painting on metal. Here you will not only learn the whole process of tray production, but also be able to paint the Zhostovsky tray with your own hands!
