Chelyabinsk

The city was founded on the 13th of September 1736. According to the history three fortresses were founded in Bashkiria and one of them was Chelyabinsk fortress. It played a great role because it was on the crossways of the silk and tea trade routs from Asia to Siberia. Since that time on the city emblem you can see a camel. During 2nd World War Chelyabinsk was called as Tankograd, than the name was returned.

At present Chelyabinsk is a large industrial, cultural and historic and educational centre with the population more than 1 million people. Speaking about culture life of Chelyabinsk we can say that there are 6 theatres here — Opera House, Drama theatre, the theatre for young spectators, puppet show, theatre of modern art, Philharmonic Society, also numerous cinemas.
